Tim And Eric's Billion Dollar Movie begins filming, Oscar campaigning

Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim have confirmed that they’ve started shooting Tim And Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie, a long-rumored project which Tim and Eric continue to insist is being bankrolled by a budget of $1 billion, making it the most fake-expensive movie in cinema history. Thanks to The Wrap, we now know some details of the plot: It stars Tim and Eric, naturally, as their famous comic creation “Tim and Eric” who “literally get a billion dollars to make a movie, and we make it, and things go awry, and Tim and I just decide to get out of Hollywood and become businessmen in an abandoned mall.” Of course, the last time we spoke with them, Tim and Eric insisted that film was “part of the Superman franchise,” so they are liars. Fucking liars.

We also now know that the cast includes expected names like Zach Galifianakis, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, and Will Forte, as well as some less expected like Robert Loggia, Jeff Goldblum, and consummate ’80s movie dickhead William Atherton. Beyond that it’s obviously sort of all up in the air, although Tim and Eric have already begun stumping for some recognition, with Wareheim saying, “This film offers the Academy the perfect opportunity to award a best picture film to a comedy and maybe even preemptively,” an attitude echoed in Heidecker’s calls for Roger Ebert to go ahead and give the film a four-star review. Wareheim also avows, “"It really is a benchmark in the timeline of American film comedies. The start of this production is going to be looked on as a day to remember.” So remember today—or rather, remember last Friday, which is when the production started. Look back and remember that day today, and then from now on.
