Tim Burton’s quirky X-Men assemble in the Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children trailer
Tim Burton may finally have his own superhero franchise—albeit without the spandex—with Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. Based on the book by Ransom Riggs, the film follows a newcomer (Asa Butterfield) joining a home for extraordinary youths with gifts that make them different from the outside world. Shepherded by the titular headmistress (Eva Green), Jacob Portman soon discovers a world full of frightful “peculiarities” (including, presumably, some of his own).
Of course, all is not well in the land of the peculiar as the trailer hints at Nazi bombing campaigns and a group of monsters called “The Hollows” (led by Samuel L. Jackson) intent on hunting down the children for their abilities. The whimsical Gothic look seems right in Burton’s wheelhouse, and millions around the world have loved the book. But it remains to be seen how it will all translate to screen.
Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children will be released in the U.S. on September 30.
