Tim Burton to direct Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, which Tim Burton somehow has not directed already

Deadline reports that 20th Century Fox has entered talks with Tim Burton about directing an adaptation of the recent novel Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, a story that Tim Burton is pretty certain he wrote. “Are you sure?” Burton said. “That title really sounds like something I would have come up with in the late ’90s, back when I was still writing things. Let me check my notes,” he muttered, pausing to wrest a whimsically oversized tome from his library shelf and unlock it with a skeleton key. But in fact, Tim Burton did not write it—Ransom Riggs did, based on a collection of vintage pictures he found featuring various pale, creepy waifs, from which Riggs concocted a story concerning a crumbling gothic orphanage that’s home to children with spooky supernatural powers. “Okay, now you’re just fucking with me,” Burton said, pointing that out that if he hadn’t already made this movie, then why would Danny Elfman have already composed this entire soundtrack of haunting children’s choirs and twinkling music boxes that Burton currently has on his iPod? He's got us there.
