Tim Heidecker, Nick Kroll, Kaitlin Olson, Michael Pena pile in for Vacation sequel
Back in the car, kids—the Griswold family is one step closer to Walley World. Variety reports that Tim Heidecker, Nick Kroll, Kaitlin Olson, and Michael Peña have been cast in Vacation, the upcoming reboot of the National Lampoon’s Vacation series. (Vacation has been filming in Georgia and New Mexico.)
Since February 2012, New Line has been trying to get the Griswolds back together to enjoy some quality rest and relaxation. After hitting the road with a new Rusty, efforts to cast the rebooted Vacation experienced a series of unexpected U-turns, cameos, blown guardrails, and occasional progress, as is obligatory for all Griswold vacations.
Heidecker, Kroll, Olson, and Peña will play “Four Corners cops,” referring to law enforcement responsible for the Four Corners Monument at the junction of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. There, they’ll likely be protecting, serving, and vacation-spoiling Rusty, his wife (Christina Applegate) and Rusty’s sister, Audrey (Leslie Mann), dashing hopes that the quartet would portray CIA spooks whose sole mission is to locate, apprehend, detain and prevent Randy Quaid’s Cousin Eddie from ruining another Griswold family vacation.
