Tim Robbins, Val Kilmer, Jessica Alba, and more added to Will Ferrell's IFC miniseries about siblings looking to bang
We are already well aware that IFC’s upcoming The Spoils Of Babylon will lovingly satirize the sweeping, romantic grandeur of classic miniseries like The Thorn Birds, with the sweeping, romantically grand story of two siblings who want to bang. We also know that Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig will play said (non-biological) siblings, that Will Ferrell will star as both the fictional author of the book the miniseries is based on and the Shah of Iran, that Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Casa De Mi Padre writing/directing team of Andrew Steele and Matt Piedmont are behind it, and that it will all be really outsized and ridiculous, as Ferrell comedy projects usually are. Now we know (via network press release) that the cast also includes Tim Robbins as the family’s patriarch; Haley Joel Osment as Wiig’s evil son; Michael Sheen as her suffering husband; Jessica Alba as Maguire’s love interest, Dixie Mellonworth; and Val Kilmer as a U.S. general waging war against Ferrell’s Shah. Here’s hoping all these famous faces don’t just end up distracting from the incest.
