Tina Fey and Robert Carlock have sold another sitcom to NBC
It’s not the America’s Next Top Pirate reboot we’ve been waiting for, but Tina Fey and Robert Carlock—the team behind 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt—have come back to NBC with another new sitcom. Deadline reports that The Sackett Sisters is about, “two estranged sisters who perform a Sully Sullenberger-esque act of public heroism, then are forced to navigate their newfound notoriety together.”
Joining Fey and Carlock will be another 30 Rock alum, Luke Del Tredici, who is now a producer on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and who wrote the pilot for the new series. While everyone involved has solid workplace comedy chops, the premise seems more in line with Kimmy, as the story spirals out from one pivotal event. But little is known about the series beyond that basic description, so anything’s possible.
Since 30 Rock wrapped, Fey and Carlock have made a cottage industry out of producing shows for its former writers. The duo has sold pilots for Cabot College, Family Fortune, The Kicker, and Great News; the latter was picked up to series and is slated to air on NBC starting mid-season, right after Are You Stronger Than A Dog?
