Tinkerbell to shill for Wal-Mart during Peter Pan Live!

Shattering the popular perception that Tinkerbell is punk as fuck and would never sell out to the Man, Variety reports that a CGI version of the beloved character will sprinkle pixie dust on behalf of Wal-Mart during the commercial breaks for NBC’s broadcast of Peter Pan Live!. She will do so with the help of Melissa Joan Hart, who is currently involved with Wal-Mart’s holiday campaign. Hart will star in a series of five commercials designed to play off of events in the show, presumably by relating those events to products available at your local Wal-Mart Supercenter (green tights, alarm clocks, The Deer Hunter on DVD and Blu-ray, etc.). Tinkerbell’s role in the festivities remains unknown, but if Wal-Mart associates put on their blue vests, close their eyes, wish really hard, and say, “I do believe in a living wage, I do believe in a living wage, I do, I do!,” maybe they will start making enough money to finally get off of food stamps. Peter Pan Live! airs tomorrow, Thursday, December 4, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
