TNT orders series from Ridley Scott, Michael Moore, and Sarah Jessica Parker

In addition to some big news about its Snowpiercer pilot, TNT has announced development on multiple new projects that run the gamut from a sci-fi block to a new docu-series with the combined acumen of Morgan Spurlock and Sarah Jessica Parker. The network has tapped legendary director Ridley Scott to lead a night of original sci-fi programming, with both short-form and hour-long series, and basically whatever Scott’s mind can conjure. TNT’s executive vice president of original programming Sarah Aubrey boasted that Scott “has created some of the best and most popular science-fiction movies of all time, and we look forward to bringing his fans even more of his smart, sophisticated stories.”

Sarah Jessica Parker and Morgan Spurlock will remain earthbound for their new docu-series, Who Run The World? (a working title), which will examine the problems that women today are facing. And, on the heels of an announcement about his latest documentary feature, Michael Moore’s new non-fiction series has just been green-lit by TNT. The series, Michael Moore Live From The Apocalypse (also a working title), aims to “pull back the curtain on everything from Washington politics to Wall Street shenanigans.” Moore will star in and direct the series, which he’s also executive producing with his longtime collaborator Meghan O’Hara. These new non-fiction series are part of TNT’s bid for more “high-profile documentary programming” to place in the lineup. Who Run The World? and Michael Moore Live From The Apocalypse are both scheduled to premiere later this year.
