TNT renews The Last Ship and Major Crimes, gives final season to Falling Skies

TNT knows drama, and specifically, it will continue to know three of its summer dramas for at least one more season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the channel has renewed The Last Ship, Major Crimes, and Falling Skies. All three scripted series are ranked in the top five of basic cable summer shows among total viewers, and they’ve helped TNT become the No. 1 cable network this summer in primetime. The Michael Bay-produced, post-apocalyptic drama The Last Ship will get a 13-episode second season, while The Closer spinoff Major Crimes will get 15 episodes for its fourth season. Meanwhile, alien invasion drama Falling Skies will get 10 episodes for its fifth and final season.  Thankfully, that will leave star Noah Wyle with plenty of free time to appear on that Librarian TV show that TNT also has in the works.
