To Pimp A Butterfly joins Harvard Library’s archives along with 3 other classics

In addition to being a producer and rapper, working with everyone from Drake to Destiny’s Child, 9th Wonder is also a hip-hop scholar. 9th Wonder has taught classes on the subject at Harvard, and he’s been working with the Hiphop Archive and Research Institute to have some of the genre’s most important works archived in the Harvard Library. The archive will feature 200 albums in total, each one featuring liner notes and an original vinyl copy. An Instagram post announced the first four albums to be archived: Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory, and Nas’ Illmatic. As 9th Wonder notes, the project will remain ongoing, but these four are the first to make it into the hallowed halls.
