Today in bizarre remake news: Remo Williams; the adventure to begin again
According to the Hollywood Reporter Remo Williams, the pulp action hero created by Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir, will be roaring back to life in a new adaptation of the popular adventure series. The character attained cult notoriety when it was adapted for the big screen in 1984 under the hilariously hopeful/delusional title Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins.
The film, which starred the great Fred Ward as the titular man of mystery and Joel Grey as his Korean mentor, was a flop so the adventure ended where it began. Until now. No word yet on the cast, though it's doubtful Ward or Grey will return. Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins' unfortunate subtitle made it the poster/whipping boy for DOA would-be franchise-starters but Columbia is hoping it'll meet a kinder fate this time around.
