Today in celebrity hospitalizations
-Owen Wilson was hospitalized on Sunday after police officers responded to an emergency call from Owen's Santa Monica home. No details have been released, but the gossipmongers (um, I guess that would be us, now, too) have blamed it on a suicide attempt involving pills and razor blades and such.
-Nick Bollea–the 17-year-old son of Hulk Hogan as well as a star of Hogan's VH1 reality show Hogan Knows Best–was released from the hospital today after a car accident in Clearwater, Florida. The car Bollea was driving hit a median and flipped, injuring himself and his passenger, who remains in critical condition.
-Although this happened a couple weeks back, news of Karl Alvarez is still making the rounds. The Colorado-based bassist of Descendents, ALL, and recently The Lemonheads suffered a heart attack on August 11, and is now facing some massive medical bills. Like many fulltime, non-rock-star musicians, Alvarez doesn't have medical insurance, and a benefit site has been set up to help. For those in the Denver area, Alvarez's new project Underminer will play at the Larimer Lounge on Wednesday, September 5–at a benefit show for another recently beleaguered punk vet, John "Stabb" Schroeder of hardcore legend Government Issue, who suffered a severe assault on the street near his DC home last month.
