Today in Harry Potter stars doing other books: Daniel Radcliffe may star in Frankenstein, Emma Watson may star in Cinderella
Having magically transformed the pages of books into far more useful money-paper, Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are considering doing the same for two other, older stories of the fantastic written on wood pulp that isn’t yet legal tender. Radcliffe is in talks to star in one of the many, by-now-innumerable retellings of Frankenstein, this one Max Landis’ adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel with Radcliffe potentially playing the role of Igor. The film is described as “a tale of friendship and redemption;” it is not described as “a tale of friendship and monsters made out of dead people,” because someone went to college. Meanwhile, Watson is considering starring in Disney’s fairy-tale-fatigue-ignoring rehash of Cinderella, reuniting with Harry Potter co-star Kenneth Branagh as he directs the adaptation, which currently stars Cate Blanchett as the Cate Blanchett-esque stepmother. “You liked Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in some books. Here they are in some other books!”—a tagline these films are free to use if they want.
