Today in "ick": Chief Keef sued for child support by a middle schooler
Furthering his reputation as a fairly sizeable scumbag, Chicago rapper Chief Keef has been sued for child support by a middle schooler. The girl (obviously unnamed in the case) claims that Keef—real name Keith Cozart—fathered a baby daughter with her back in 2011. Given that Keef is only 17 now and the girl is, at the oldest, in eighth grade, it's possible the mother could have been in sixth grade when the child was conceived. She's currently seeking an undisclosed amount of child support, as well as health insurance and money for other medical expenses.
Beyond just making for gross headlines, the coupling of the two teens was also technically illegal at the time: Illinois law defines it as a misdemeanor for two people under the age of 17 to have sex, even consensually. Of course, this law is rarely enforced—and it certainly won’t be in this case—but, as the older party, Keef could find himself charged with criminal sexual abuse. If convicted, he could face one year in jail and another 10 years on the sex offender registry.
Of course, the rapper is already in jail: He was recently sentenced to 60 days in juvenile detention last week after violating his parole by holding a gun in a Pitchfork.tv video.
