Today in last-minute Star Wars rumors: Jesse Plemons up for the lead in Star Wars
As befitting an actor who has played seemingly good guys in whom lurks a dark side, Jesse Plemons is said to be up for one of the two young leads in Star Wars: Episode VII. According to The Wrap—which cautions, rather redundantly at this point, that the story still has no official confirmation from anyone in the Disney/Lucasfilm camp—the Friday Night Lights and Breaking Bad star is due to meet with director J.J. Abrams next week to discuss it, though that certainly shouldn’t stop everyone on the Internet from discussing it right now and through the weekend.
Plemons reportedly impressed producers by taping an audition that made him a “serious contender” for one of the two main roles—presumably, the athletic, street-smart young man who knows that hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for the power of laughter. The Wrap also suggests that Plemons is probably a shoo-in due to his “resemblance to Mark Hamill,” which, sure, it’s after quitting time on a Friday, so let’s just go with it. For comparison's sake, here's a photo of Mark Hamill and then one of Jesse Plemons.
And here's a photo of Lobot, just because we like that guy. Where's Lobot in all this? #BringBackLobot
