Today in music videos: Justin Timberlake's not-so-triumphant return to music in FreeSol's "Role Model"

The natives have grown increasingly restless over Justin Timberlake forsaking music for a decent-ish movie career, but now JT is finally back making music videos! Sadly, there's a catch: It's for the rap-rock band FreeSol, an act produced by Timberlake. The song "Role Model" opens with a frankly embarrassing rap by Timberlake—"I never miss the mark like a Maker, but you know I'm from the south, yay-err"—who's seen waving his arms around in the cheap-looking clip with little of the pop-star charisma he's known for. Then things go really down hill, with the FreeSol guy delivering sub-Charles Barkley lyrics about not being a role model. Yikes, maybe Friends With Benefits wasn't so bad after all. [via Vulture]
