It's pretty easy to crack jokes about a singer from a hip New York City indie-rock band singing a song popularized by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings for a burrito chain. (Right, guys?) But if that singer is Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and the burrito chain is Chipotle, well, there's no laughing when the results turn out this well. (Okay, maybe there's still some laughing, but that's on you.) Karen O recorded "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" to publicize Chipotle's Cultivate Foundation, a nonprofit organization geared toward "creating a sustainable, healthful, and equitable food future." Karen O's luminously atmospheric take on the country classic comes in conjunction with the Boorito campaign, where Chipotle is offering up $2 burritos for customers who wear a costume on Halloween night, with proceeds going to Cultivate and Farm Aid. Jesus, are we still talking about Chipotle? Here's the song. [Via Spin]
