Mastodon's The Hunter was one of 2011's under-appreciated great records, moving the Atlanta prog-metal band in a party-heartier, '70s hard-rock direction. Not that the evil has exited the band's music completely—the new animated video for "Dry Bone Valley" generously piles on the unsettling images as one of The Hunter's best tracks stalks across a thoroughly charred and barren psychological terrain. Which is just another way of saying that it rocks pretty hard.
