In the new black-and-white video for the piano ballad “The Last Goodbye,” art-rock duo The Kills sits in a photo booth and makes a variety of semi-amusing facial expressions. Singer Allison Mosshart’s range from mildly dejected to very dejected to kinda happy at the end, while guitarist Jamie Hince shows off some formidable fish-face talents. However, despite the duo’s impressive camera-mugging skills, the real showstopper here is Mosshart’s hair—a gloriously vampy bird’s nest that’s half bedroom romp and half Bellatrix Lestrange.
It’s the first-ever music video directing effort from actress Samantha Morton, who’s best known for her role as that bald, amphibious quasi-human in Minority Report. With this emotive huge-hair project, we bet she finally feels compensated for those two-and-a-half hours of hairlessness and dead-face staring at Tom Cruise.
