Today in Star Wars sort-of-news: The guy who did all the Star Wars posters might do more Star Wars posters
Although minor details such as who will direct and star in them are still scheduled to be officially worked out, at some point, Fanhattan (via Coming Soon) does have some other news regarding the next Star Wars movies that you may find just as crucial or momentarily distracting: Drew Struzan—the poster artist whose lengthy, impressive credits includes one-sheets for every single Star Wars film—has received “a couple calls” from Disney about doing the same on the next generation of Star Wars. “Oh my God, I’m trying to be retired! You know, I spent 35 years painting Star Wars. I painted Star Wars before most of you were born! But I guess there is always a chance,” Struzan said in what is the sum total of this Star Wars-related news that you clicked on anyway.
Of course, the promise of the man who helped immortalize the iconic imagery of Star Wars being asked to continue on with the franchise is just that: a promise, and a vague one that Struzan isn’t exactly thrilled about. But it does suggest, again, that Disney is taking the job of preserving the Star Wars legacy very seriously, in case you were maybe concerned that they’d just slap some random lasers and robots on it and call it a day. To reiterate: Disney will not just slap some random lasers and robots on it and call it a day.
