Today’s Amazon deals: Grown-up wallets, and Reductress’ great new book

In an effort to both serve our readers and help support The A.V. Club, we are going to post daily links to deals and interesting items that we find over on Amazon. If you use these links to click through and buy something—not just the thing you clicked—on Amazon, we will see a portion of that income. You don’t have to do that if you don’t want to, but if you do, know that we appreciate it.

Logitech all-in-one remote with customizable touch screen ($169.99, was $299.99)

Amazon is attempting to streamline your TV viewing with its deal today on this Logitech remote, which can control up to 15 devices, including game consoles and electronics in other rooms. It even syncs with your smartphone, meaning that you can turn your iPhone into an all-powerful master remote. Perhaps most importantly, it remembers your preferred settings, so if you tap “watch a movie,” for instance, it’ll know you probably want Netflix, you want your TV off sports mode, and you like your volume set to around 30. It’s like it knows you, and while it’s a little expensive, you really can’t put a price on entertainment peace of mind.

Up to 60 percent off Tommy Hilfiger belts, wallets, and accessories

Let’s face it: You need a new wallet, and you need a new belt. Your old ones are gross, crusty, and falling apart, and you’re a goddamn adult. Step up your game with one of today’s Amazon deals, which finds leather Hilfiger wallets and belts both going for about $17. You can also pick up a tie or two if that’s what you’re into.

Eat Like A Gilmore: The Unofficial Cookbook For Fans Of Gilmore Girls ($14.99)

One of our lovely readers picked this up earlier this week, and we think it’s just swell. Recipes include caramel marshmallow chocolate chunk cookies, chilaquiles, and macaroni and cheese in a jalapeño chipotle cream sauce. The book also instructs on how to make “Rory” cocktails, and there are six whole pages just on coffee, because that’s the Gilmore way.

How To Win At Feminism: The Definitive Guide To Having It All—And Then Some! ($17.73 in paperback)

This is another recent reader purchase, and it’s one we fully endorse. The new book by the writers behind Reductress, How To Win At Feminism is subversive, funny, and important, with lovely illustrations, graphics, and hilarious photos. Like Reductress itself, it’s funny, but true, shining a light on some of our society’s most ridiculous inequalities.

Omron wrist blood-pressure monitor ($42.75, was $56.99)

Want to keep your blood pressure in check, either for health reasons or just because you’re into that for whatever reason? Do it with this Omron monitor, which has been relatively well reviewed by over 9,600 Amazon users.

Jackery Thunder portable charger ($22.49, was $69.99)

At this juncture, we’re approaching critical mass on the availability of portable device chargers. They’re a dime a dozen, and some are certainly better than others. This Jackery Thunder has four stars on Amazon, and can recharge 80 percent of your phone’s battery life in less than 35 minutes. It recharges itself entirely in under 6 hours, and comes with an 18-month product warranty. Plus, according to the listing, “the powerful Jackery Thunder can fully charge iPhone 7 up to 4 times, Galaxy S6 up to 2.5 times, and iPad up to 1 time.”

Singer heavy-duty high-speed sewing machine ($124.99, was $174.99)

This Singer sewing machine boasts “extra-high sewing speed,” meaning it can plow through 1,100 stitches per minute, hopefully none of which will be in your fingers. It can handle 32 different built-in stitch types and is incredibly sturdy, even coming with an automatic needle threader.

GreenWorks Pro cordless string trimmer ($133.99, was $229)

Yard-work tools aren’t always glamorous, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need them. This cordless trimmer has excellent reviews, and can run for 45 minutes without needing a charge. That should be more than enough time to buzz over a tiny front lot, or hit more sensitive spots around trees and fences. It also comes with both a battery and a charger, meaning that you’ll be ready to trim from day one.
