Toni Collette and Drew Barrymore to star in “romantic” pregnancy/cancer movie

Having bummed everyone out by starring in Blended with Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore has decided she may as well bum everyone out on purpose by starring in a movie about a woman who gets breast cancer. Joining her in this outing is Toni Collette, as Variety reports the two actresses are starring in Miss You Already, a “romantic comedy” that shot last fall in England.

The film is about two friends, one of whom “discovers she’s pregnant as the other learns she has breast cancer.” So, basically your average laugh-a-minute romantic comedy. Perhaps they’re going for something closer in tone to 50/50, the cancer comedy starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen, where Gordon-Levitt gets cancer and Rogen discovers he’s pregnant. (With emotion, people—come on, it’s not Junior.) Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Red Riding Hood, actual good movie Thirteen), the film co-stars Dominic Cooper and Jacqueline Bisset. No release date has been set.
