Tony Gilroy confirms some stuff you probably already knew about the next, Matt Damon-less Bourne film

Like an amnesiac assassin filling in the blanks on stuff he already knows deep down, Deadline spelled out some details on the next, Tony Gilroy-directed Jason Bourne film, confirming again that it would not be focused on Matt Damon’s character—‘cause Matt Damon doesn’t want to play spies no more—but rather someone completely new. That someone new? “Another agent and probably a killer who went through experiences similar to Bourne's or the character played by Clive Owen in the original Bourne,” something you probably surmised already, otherwise it wouldn’t really be a Bourne film, now would it?

However, Gilroy is obviously still holding out hope that Damon will return, as his story explores the sinister secret-ops organization Treadstone in a way that expands upon everything that happened in the first three films—it’s just that the popular central character from those first three films is nowhere to be seen. But Gilroy acknowledges, “Of course, Jason Bourne is still alive and out there in the world” while adding, “I don't want to go beyond that, because the last thing I need is for every blogger to be second guessing." Too late, Gilroy! We’re guessing that Bourne is hiding out in Thailand, building a Buddhist temple and working on his stick fighting skills.
