Toronto Film Festival coverage starts (late) tonight!
Starting late tonight with a “Day 0” post outlining our plans and reviewing a handful of films screened for us in advance, The A.V. Club returns to the Toronto International Film Festival for an 11th straight year of coverage. Noel Murray and I will be posting a blog full of reviews every night—most likely in the early a.m. Eastern Time—and registering insta-reactions and other observations on our Twitter feeds, @NoelMu and @scott_tobias, respectively. Among the potential highlights: New movies by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), Werner Herzog (Cave Of Forgotten Dreams… in 3-D!), Errol Morris (Tabloid), John Carpenter (The Ward), Danny Boyle (127 Hours), Vincent Gallo (Promises Written In Water), Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Uncle Boonmee), Ben Affleck (The Town), Woody Allen (You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger), and hopefully a lot of unexpected gems. If all goes according to plan, we will champion some great films, cut down some white elephants, and watch pasty Europeans engage in desultory bouts of unsimulated sex, as is TIFF custom. Enjoy!
