Toronto Film Festival declares September 5 Bill Murray Day

Even though every day is unofficially Bill Murray Day in American hearts, the official White House petition to create Bill Murray Day has long since expired. But thanks to Canada, Bill Murray will at last be rewarded with his own holiday—though again, in Canada. More specifically, Toronto; most specifically, the Toronto International Film Festival, where Murray will be presiding over all things Bill Murray on September 5. The fest will host free screenings of Stripes, Groundhog Day, and Ghostbusters, all leading up to the premiere of Murray’s latest project, St. Vincent. Up to 50 people who attend all three screenings will win a free ticket to St. Vincent. The Murray trifecta begins at 10 a.m. at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, with the inevitably long line officially forming outside the Bell Lightbox box office at 8 a.m.
