Toy Cars sends a love letter to Bjork on its new song

New Jersey’s Toy Cars is a band that seems to fit into the state’s rock ‘n’ roll lineage. The band writes songs about cruising freeways like Bruce Springsteen did back in the day, but with the slight punk stomp that made The Gaslight Anthem famous. Today The A.V. Club is streaming “Bjork,” a song from the band’s upcoming five song EP, Sleeping Patterns, which is coming September 16. The song sees Toy Cars offer up a simple hook while pounding it out like its life depends on it. The song’s connection to Bjork may be hidden but, whatever the inspiration, the result feels like another step forward in Jersey’s rock heritage.

Pre-orders for Sleeping Patterns are available now on both CD and vinyl.
