Tracy Morgan to appear on Today in first TV appearance since car crash

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Tracy Morgan is scheduled to join Today’s Matt Lauer for an interview on Monday, which will mark the first TV appearance for the former Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock star after he suffered debilitating injuries in a car crash last June. Since the accident—in which a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer struck Morgan’s limo-bus—Morgan has sued Wal-Mart for negligence, and news broke yesterday that the suit was settled for a confidential and presumably huge sum of money.

For the Today interview, Morgan will be accompanied by his lawyer, Benedict Morelli, who last September expressed concern that the actor might not be able to perform again. The Reporter notes that Morgan had hoped to appear on this year’s SNL 40 celebration, but he wasn’t well enough, and instead his 30 Rock castmates Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin paid tribute to him on the Studio 8H stage.
