Eli Roth’s latest, Knock Knock, marks the director’s first-ever premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, and according to the director, it also “marks a turning point” in his career, shifting from the gore that’s defined his horror work to a more psychological sort of thriller. The film finds devoted family man Keanu Reeves alone one weekend when two young women (Lorenza Izzo, Ana de Armas) happen upon his door, with sexy, then dangerous results.
Knock Knock is inspired by 1977’s Death Game, a film to which Roth bought the rights to use as a “springboard”—while also casting one of that movie’s stars, Colleen Camp, in a small role. No official release date has been set outside of film festivals, but look for memes of its latest in a long line of confused Keanu Reeves performances to begin circulating the Internet shortly.
