Trailer for Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner’s Difficult People shows people being difficult
Real-life best friends and Billy On The Street collaborators Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner have been working on Difficult People, their scripted comedy about two assholes who only have love for each other, since last year. The project was initially being developed for USA, but then Hulu picked up the Amy Poehler-produced half-hour comedy, which will premiere the series on Wednesday, August 5th.
The first full-length trailer was released today and boasts plenty of signature shouting from Eichner, as well as some strong side-eye game from both leads, who spend most of the trailer looking at everyone around them—family included—with disgust. The trailer also shows off the show’s star-studded roster of guest and recurring stars, including Andrea Martin, Seth Meyers, Martin Short, Kate McKinnon, Gabourey Sidibe, Fred Armisen, Ana Gasteyer, Andy Cohen, James Urbaniak, and Amy Sedaris. Martin plays Klausner’s mother, who disapproves of her daughter’s comedy career: “That’s one of the reasons I don’t have grandchildren.” According to Klausner, who wrote the pilot, she and Eichner are playing “less successful” versions of themselves.
