Trailer for silent Western Gutterdämmerung, starring Iggy Pop and Lemmy, is as crazy you’d expect
We’ve been hearing about Gutterdämmerung and its claim to the title of “loudest silent movie on Earth” for a while now, but news stories about Lemmy from Motörhead playing a crazed military general and Iggy Pop playing a “punk rock angel” named Vicious who introduces sin to mankind with an evil guitar couldn’t really sell just how bonkers the movie seemed like it was going to be. Luckily, the people behind Gutterdämmerung have finally released a trailer for the film, and while all the sound effects and talking betrays the “silent movie” conceit a little bit, it definitely features a bunch of famous musicians in weird costumes yelling about evil guitars. The trailer also gives us a look at the live touring aspect of Gutterdämmerung, which seems to consist of a dozen dudes playing electric guitars, huge screens showing projections of the movie, and fireworks cannons timed to go off at the same time as Lemmy’s tanks.
Gutterdämmerung will begin touring the most metal areas of the world early next year, and though the official website doesn’t list any specific dates, it says tickets will go on sale on October 14.
