Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to compose the score for HBO's Watchmen

Zack Snyder’s Watchmen movie had a memorable soundtrack, with some direct lifts from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ original comic combined with My Chemical Romance covering “Desolation Row,” but HBO’s Watchmen sequel thing is going to go in a direction with a lot more droning industrial music. According to /Film, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have been tapped to compose the score, which should give the new take on Watchmen a slightly more prestigious cinematic flair—since Reznor and Ross won the Acdemy Award for Best Original Score back in 2011 for their work on The Social Network.

We don’t know much about HBO’s Watchmen, which comes from Damon Lindelof, but it seems like at least some of it is going to take place a significant amount of time after the events of the comic (as some set photos have referenced a specific squid-based event that doesn’t happen in the movie).
