Truck driver involved in Tracy Morgan crash pleads guilty

As reported by TMZ (via Vulture), the man who was driving the truck that hit Tracy Morgan’s limo bus in 2014—putting Morgan in a coma and killing comedian James McNair—has pled guilty to vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated assault. The driver, Kevin Roper, was working for Walmart and had been awake for over 24 hours before causing the accident, and he’s hoping for a plea deal that will keep him out of prison. TMZ says the deal reportedly involves “a three-year intervention program” and “300 hours of community service.” If he completes those and “stays out of trouble after that,” the charges against him will be dropped. As of right now, the judge hasn’t agreed to the deal yet, but the TMZ story doesn’t say when that might happen.

Earlier this month, Morgan appeared on Conan and talked about the accident, explaining that he forgives Roper and is no longer mad at him. (Naturally, Morgan undercut that emotional moment by making a joke about his neighbors being mad that they still have to live next to him.)
