True Blood casts Will Yun Lee as a Japanese cowboy
HBO has announced the addition of Will Yun Lee (The Wolverine) to the cast of True Blood, where he will play Mr. Gus, a revenge-minded Japanese businessman whose “urban cowboy demeanor nearly rivals the size of his large Stetsons.” Because hey, it’s the last season, so why the hell not?
Lee will join the cast for the seventh and final year of the supernatural drama, which has already solemnly investigated the lives of vampires, witches, werewolves, fairies, werepanthers, maenaeds, and Louisianans via the time-tested narrative device of drenching them in blood, then making them have sex with each other. There’s no indication yet of what sort of mythological creature Mr. Gus will turn out to be, or what it will look like when said mythological creature has sex. Although we’re pinning our hopes on, respectively, “the enigmatic but elegant were-chupacabra,” and “surprisingly tender”.
True Blood returns for its final season on June 22.
