If America chooses Donald Trump to be its 45th commander in chief, the reality star’s dream of building a border wall between Mexico and the United States will move one step closer to reality. But how will that look, exactly? The team at Estudio 3.14 has proposed one bold vision: Render it in hot pink.
Working with the Mamertine Corporation of the United States, the Gaudalajara-based design firm has created a series of fantastic, eye-catching images in which the wall is depicted as a massive, hot pink monolith stretching nearly 2,000 miles. Like the candidate himself, Trump’s fuchsia wall is so undeterred by logic that it blithely passes right through buildings, bodies of water, and even mountains.
In an article at Designboom, the firm says that the color pink used in these images is a reference to the work of late Mexican architect Luis Barragán, whose boldly colorful walls remain “emblematic of Mexico.” It also makes good on Trump’s promise that his border wall would be “beautiful.” Estudio 3.14 explains:
Based on Trump’s statements, the economic, ecological and financial aspects have been called into question. However, he continues with his verbal plan. As architects and designers, we have the capacity to imagine and interpret what Trump is saying, and we are convinced that if we can make people see it, they can assess his words and the perversity in his proposal.
Speaking of which, the studio’s design reveals that—in addition to serving as a physical barrier between two neighboring countries—the wall would also contain a prison for some of the 11 million undocumented people Trump has promised to deal with. How efficient.
