Trust Fall spills all its secrets on a new album
On its past releases Virginia’s Trust Fall found itself falling into a genreless no man’s land. Its closest link was Senders–a band that was given the unfortunate tag of “stoner emo”–as they both crafted sludgy riffs that felt more in tune with Braid than they did Sleep. On its debut full-length, Secret Keeper, Trust Fall sheds any references to this subgenre that never was, instead finding commonality with the bass heavy post-hardcore of Unwound. Secret Keeper is set for release on November 18 via Flannel Gurl Records, but The A.V. Club is streaming the album in its entirety now. Throughout the album Trust Fall expands its range of motion, not by abandoning its previous aggressive tendencies, but by tapping into them in visceral new ways.
