TruTV adds Andrea Savage’s I’m Sorry to its ever-growing list of comedies
TruTV is already home to the freewheeling comedy of Impractical Jokers and Billy On The Street, but the network has started bulking up on scripted programming. It recently picked up Jon Glaser Loves Gear, a hybrid comedy-docuseries that will see the writer-comedian effusing over things on one of the few shows that doesn’t enlist Chris Hardwick to do so. The network is also developing the anthology series, Bobcat Goldthwait’s Messed Up Stories, and has already lined up season two of Those Who Can’t, a half-hour comedy starring Maria Thayer. And today, TruTV announced that it had green-lit a meta-comedy from The Hotwives Of Las Vegas’ Andrea Savage.
The series, titled I’m Sorry, will star Savage as Andrea, a “comedy writer, wife, and mom,” which are all parts that make up the Veep guest star’s real life. Over the course of the 10-episode first season, Savage will “comically [expose] her inner immaturity and neuroses through unexpected life situations.” In the press release, Savage declared herself “thrilled to apologize in advance to my family, my friends and to myself for the shame I will be bringing upon us all.”
Southland’s Tom Everett Scott will play her husband, and fresh-faced newcomer Olive Petrucci will play their daughter. The series premiere is already stocked with guest stars, including Judy Greer, Jason Mantzoukas, and June Squibb. I’m Sorry will premiere on TruTV in 2017.
