TruTV is making a marijuana reality show, is definitely not a narc
TruTV wants to know: Do you like shows about pot? No, wait, don’t run away! TruTV just wants to tell you about its new pot show. TruTV’s not a narc!
The network wants you to know that it’s developing a new reality show about a family running a legal marijuana production facility in Colorado. Titled Medicine Man, the show is described by TruTV head of programming Chris Linn as “a fun take on the unique subcultures and characters that will resonate with our target audience of young adults,” a description that employs the same hip, snazzy, jazz-cigarette-loving vernacular of his desired clientele. Linn goes on to claim that TruTV was “the first network to put the new legal marijuana business front and center in a brand new television series,” forgetting about Discovery’s 2011 show Weed Wars and all of the brave Weed Soldiers who died therein. Presumably the show slipped his mind because he is sooooooooooo high, and he, like TruTV, loves weed, and is definitely not a narc.
Medicine Man is another step in TruTV’s efforts to shed its former life as the courtroom and cop drama-focused CourtTV. Other steps have included adopting the slogan “Way More Fun,” adding prank shows like Impractical Jokers to its lineup, and picking up this totally sweet jacket at the local thrift store. Also, if you wanted to come back to TruTV’s place and listen to records, maybe “light up a blint,” that would be totally cool. TruTV’s cool with that, it repeatedly, non-desperately assures you. TruTV is cool.
