Tuesday’s got some Great News for you
Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Tuesday, May 2. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
Great News (NBC, 9 p.m.): Vikram Murthi is going to start regularly checking in with NBC’s new sitcom, Great News, which we deemed “a winner” when we previewed the season last week. This week’s back-to-back episodes are both showcases for the comedic genius of John Michael Higgins as Ted-Baxter-like anchor Chuck Pierce.
Regular coverage
The Flash (The CW, 8 p.m.)
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Fox, 8 p.m.)
WWE SmackDown (USA, 8 p.m.)
iZombie (The CW, 9 p.m.)
Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC, 10 p.m.)
The Americans (FX, 10 p.m.)
Wild cards
Maria Bamford: Old Baby (Netflix, 3:01 a.m.): Maria Bamford’s new Netflix special finds her performing in all sorts of unconventional places, including a living room and bookstore. Fart noises are also involved, as is a pug statue.
Victorian Slum House (PBS, 8 p.m.): For schadenfreude purposes, you might also want to check out PBS’ new series/experiment that seeks to demonstrate how tough life was in 19th-century London.
