Tupac is back, in hologram form

Tupac is back, in hologram form

There were many instantly regrettable aspects to rapper Tupac Shakur being slain in 1996, but chief among them, undoubtedly, was knowing that someday he would miss out on Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s closing night performance at Coachella, which sounded like it was going to be pretty awesome. But weep tiny tear tattoos no more, for technology has finally found a cure for four fatal gunshots: Holograms, which allowed the mostly dead rapper to join the ostensibly alive Dre, Snoop, Eminem, 50 Cent, Wiz Khalifa, Warren G, and Kurupt, then perform a medley with the same ease and swagger as a CNN reporter reading off election results. You can watch modern science break you off a little bit of “Hail Mary” below, preceded by the two-dimensional Tupac actually giving a shout-out to Coachella—a bit of choking-on-your-blunt, reality-bending manipulation that either speaks to a very near future dominated by Las Vegas “ghost revues,” or confirms the long-standing rumor that Tupac is alive and well and always looking for creepy new promotional opportunities.
