Today’s Curb Your Enthusiasm panel at TCA summer press tour opened with a revealing look at the new season, which will see Larry David getting pissed off in the shower, getting pissed off at June Diane Raphael, and of course, pissing off everyone around him. This sizzle reel came on the heels of HBO’s announcement of the guest star roster, which will include Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen (David knows what he’s doing, after all). But it was David’s appearance on a different series that probably drew the biggest response from critics (at least, those who weren’t putting salve on the burns David was doling out from the stage).
It seems David shook his family tree for an upcoming episode of Finding Your Roots With Henry Louis Gates, JR., and a presidential candidate fell out—Bernie Sanders. The revelation was unintentional, arising during a Q&A with the Curb panel. David said he’d been told to keep the information secret, because the episode hasn’t aired yet. But it’s out in the world now, which means that, despite Sanders’ crushed presidential dreams, he will still remain a topic for Saturday Night Live sketches.
