TV Club Classic Summer Schedule: Buffy and more!

It's summer, which means that, if you're like The A.V. Club, it's time to shut off the TV and resume your traditional summer regimen of hiking, rock climbing, and training for the coming Labor Day half-marathon. Well, either that our cranking up the air conditioning and settling in for marathon sessions with TV-on-DVD box sets. Whichever.

If you fall in the latter camp, you'll have a daily reason to visit The A.V. Club's T.V. Club pages, which will be exploring several classic series over the next few months. Which series? When do they start? And who will be doing them? Well, I'm glad you asked:

MONDAY: My So Called Life: Amelie Gillette will cover the show the helped define teendom in the 1990s for one low-rated, highly influential season. (Starts June 16th)

TUESDAY: Newsradio: Donna Bowman revisits the cultishly adored NBC sitcom starring Dave Foley, Maura Tierney, Phil Hartman, Andy Dick, Joe Rogan, and Stephen Root. (Starts June 10)

WEDNESDAY: SCTV: Taking a break from exploring past seasons of Saturday Night Live, Nathan Rabin turns his attention to that other great sketch comedy show. (Already in progress)

THURSDAY: Buffy The Vampire Slayer: After getting pressure form others for years (ahem), Noel Murray takes the plunge into Joss Whedon's supernatural classic. Having seen only a handful of episodes in the past, he'll be approaching it as a newb. (Starts tomorrow)

FRIDAY: The X-Files: Has the pre-millennium paranoia of this show aged like wine or cheese? I'll be finding out myself. (Starts June 13th)

As of now this coverage is scheduled to last until the new shows start up in the fall at which point it will either come to a natural end (My So Called Life), reach a point where a break makes sense and resume at a later date, continue on if the readership demands it, or simply stop if we're not having fun.

Also, while many of our regularly covered shows will be on hiatus, we'll still be covering summer shows as they pop up either once out of curiosity (America's Next Top Dog) or in their entirety because they're amazing and if you're not watching them what's wrong with you (Mad Men)?

Now, stop enjoying the nice weather already!
