TV promotion news: Roller-skate with Robot Chicken and read along with Castle
Here's two clever approaches to marketing TV shows:
1. In honor of the July 21st release of the Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II DVD, series co-creators Seth Green and Matt Senreich will be traveling the country by bus for nine days, hosting skate parties at roller rinks in San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Richmond, Philadelphia and New York. More details on venue, admission policies, special guests, etc. can be found here.
2. ABC will be working to maintain public awareness of its surprise hit mystery series Castle by serializing the first half of a mystery novel credited to the show's main character. Once a week for ten weeks (starting August 10th), abc.com will host a new chapter of Heat Wave, a novel by "Richard Castle." On September 29th, Hyperion will publish the complete book. The TV version of Castle—about a writer who shadows the NYPD for research and helps them solve crimes—returns September 21st.
So who's got the next hot promotion idea? Surprise island vacations sponsored by Lost? Dial-a-diagnosis, delivered by Hugh Laurie from House? Will Bob Saget tell you a five-year story about his true love to push How I Met Your Mother? What?
