Two months after going "on hiatus," The Walkmen have already booked another show
After only about two months “on hiatus,” The Walkmen have already announced plans to get back together. In a move that’s both understandable and somewhat comical, the group has signed on to perform for a one-off “Alt-Star Party” to be held in New Orleans on Feb. 15, smack in the middle of the NBA’s All-Star weekend. The party—a benefit for the Rock On Foundation, hosted by organization co-founder and San Antonio Spur Matt Bonner—also boasts a DJ set from Vampire Weekend drummer Chris Tomson, among “other surprises.”
In a statement, Walkmen frontman Hamilton Leithauser explained the decision, saying that, while the group “thought it might take a lifetime to get us back together,” the offer from the Alt-Star Party was too good to pass up. Quoth Leithauser: “How could we stay on the bench? We’re coming 110%. Full-court press. Man to man. Rock n Roll, Pick n Roll.” Alley-oop.
