Tyrese Gibson apologizes to “skeezers and hoes” for saying a bunch of “super stupid shit”

Like a tricked-out Nissan with its nitrous button taped down—except with more comments about women ruining their “down there” region with lots of sex—Fast And Furious actor Tyrese Gibson let his mouth get away from him this week. Gibson gave a much-derided interview to BET on Monday, in which he delivered “a message to promiscuous women.” Addressing “sluts, skeezers, hoes, tramps and overly aggressive promiscuous women,” Gibson informed them that they were “never without a man because they don’t have no standards. They ready to have sex with any and everything that want to have sex with them.”

Gibson then encouraged all the skeezers in his audience to have more self-esteem, presumably by letting him yell at them for a little longer. Perhaps worried that people wouldn’t understand his nuanced point without an accompanying automotive metaphor, he noted that, while, lunches and parties and yachts are fun, “However, it comes with a cost, you gonna put a lot of miles on yourself down there, come on.” “Down there,” again, meaning genitals, and not, like, tires, even though Gibson is a car movie man.

Shockingly, the world’s women have not taken Gibson’s “please don’t wear your vaginas out” message to heart, instead calling him out for saying a load of ignorant, unpleasant shit. TV host Wendy Williams took lead on the attack, asking him who made him the moral police, and pointing out that he never seems to say anything bad about men.

Now, Gibson has apologized, sort of, via a series of Instagram posts. “Ladies,” one opens, “I just got off with my mentor and she just came down on me in a major way, checked me caved my chest in with reality and made it plane… Damn I’ve said some super stupid shit.” But, Gibson notes, he’s not apologizing for his message—which, again, is “if women have sex, they risk damaging their precious, all-important vaginas”—but for his delivery. You can read the whole post below, but the upshot is that, like a contrite Labrador, Tyrese Gibson knows he fucked up, and is sorry he fucked up, but possibly doesn’t know how he fucked up, or will fuck up again, presumably the next time another Fast And Furious movie is around to get him in front of a microphone.
