U.S. president enters third day of bombing morning news hosts
The U.S. government—specifically, the part of it embedded in Donald Trump’s thumbs—continued its attacks on Morning Joe’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski this morning, with Trump hopping on Twitter for a third day in a row to blast the morning news hosts. In what could be seen as a real step forward in our president’s ability to talk about other human beings without immediately jumping to the single worst thing possible, though, Trump’s latest tweet managed to refrain from comments about bleeding face-lifts, and simply called the pair “crazy” and “dumb,” instead.
Trump reserved much of his ire for Scarborough and Brzezinski’s bosses at NBC—who, to be fair, have foisted some truly terrible public figures onto the world, specifically from 2004 to 2015, if we’re including the Celebrity editions. Trump also accused NBC Universal of firing host Greta Van Susteren for refusing to go along with “Trump hate.”
For those keeping track at home, Trump’s numerous tweets over the last 24 hours have been a pretty even mix between actual semi-official stuff—Happy Canada Day, by the way—blatant political attacks on topics like various states’ resistance to his bullshit voter fraud initiative, and screeds against TV news hosts and networks he thinks have done him wrong. Which, given some of the days we’ve seen since the reality TV star took office, has to be seen as something of a relative win for the dignity of the office.
