U2’s next record won’t be ready until at least 2015
Despite U2’s recent Mandela-related press blitz, the band’s new LP won’t see the light of day until at least 2015. Billboard reports that the band has gone back into the studio to work up its next album with the help of producers Paul Epworth (Adele, Foster The People) and Ryan Tedder. Though Tedder has produced tracks for Adele, Kelly Clarkson, and Maroon 5, he’s probably best known as the frontman of the fairly shitty rock band OneRepublic. Brian Burton—a.k.a. Danger Mouse—will also be one of its many cooks.
Billboard reports that U2 was supposed to launch a tour this fall, but that dates have been pushed back to at least Summer 2015. That’s not unprecedented for U2—the band’s last tour was pushed back a year as well—but it’s still probably a disappointment for Live Nation, which saw more than $737 million grossed on U2’s 360° tour in 2010.
