U2 to spend a week on The Tonight Show

In what could be an attempt to make up for jamming its new album down your throat, U2 has invited itself into your living room for an entire week in November. Not to be outdone by the weeklong Foo Fighters residency on Late Show With David Letterman, U2 has announced plans to spend the week of November 17 as the featured musical guest on The Tonight Show. U2’s week coincides with another residency, Metallica’s week on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, but fans of both bands without DVRs need not fret: The airings of the two shows don’t overlap.

U2 has a history with Jimmy Fallon’s iteration of The Tonight Show, having played a rooftop show for Fallon’s hosting debut, and the week on the show might serve to kick-start sluggish sales of Songs Of Innocence, which fell well below sales projections on its physical release. The band has also recently been hinting at plans to tour arenas in 2015.
