In honor of The Joshua Tree’s 30th anniversary, U2’s members will go where the streets have no name because they still haven’t found what they’re looking for. And they will do it with or without you. The band has announced that it will perform the iconic album in full during each stop on a tour spanning North America and Europe beginning in May and ending in August. Along the way, Bono, The Edge, and company will make a pitstop in Tennessee for Bonnaroo. That performance will mark U2’s first time headlining a festival in the U.S.
Of the nostalgic enterprise, The Edge said in a statement: ”“It seems like we have come full circle from when The Joshua Tree songs were originally writtten, with global upheaval, extreme right wing politics and some fundamental human rights at risk. To celebrate the album—as these songs seem so relevant and prescient of these times too—we decided to do these shows, it feels right for now. We’re looking forward to it.”
According to U2’s website, supporting acts include fedora-wearers Mumford And Sons, The Lumineers, and One Republic in North America, while Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will accompany the band in Europe. See the full list of dates below.
