Ubisoft announces new South Park: The Fractured But Whole video game
2014’s South Park: The Stick Of Truth was a surprisingly well-received role-playing game, especially considering that licensed games are often terrible, and that South Park isn’t exactly setting the world on fire anymore. However, thanks to the fact that video game technology has finally advanced far enough to be able to faithfully recreate South Park visuals, it managed to replicate the style and tone of the best years of the show while simultaneously acting as a tongue-in-cheek love letter to RPGs.
Now, as announced at its E3 press conference, Ubisoft is back with another South Park RPG. While Stick Of Truth was a medieval fantasy thing, this new game—titled The Fractured But Whole, because that’s so dumb that it’s funny(?)—is going to be a superhero satire. Also, Stick Of Truth was developed by fan-favorite RPG studio Obsidian Entertainment (best known for making games that everyone likes even though they occasionally run like shit), but Fractured is being developed internally at Ubisoft. It remains to be seen whether or not that’s a good thing.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC at some point in the future. We don’t know when. Until whenever that is, though, you can watch a trailer for it below:
