UnREAL’s Constance Zimmer joins Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Constance Zimmer is the latest addition to the cast for Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s upcoming third season, E! News reports. Zimmer currently plays producing mastermind Quinn King on Lifetime’s breakout series UnREAL, which wraps up its first season next Monday and has already been renewed for a second season. On Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., she’s set to play a “mysterious head of a government organization,” one of the most common job descriptions besides “superhero” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her character will reportedly be an adversary to Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson, who Joss Whedon still thinks should be dead.
The fact that Zimmer’s character will butt heads with Coulson doesn’t inherently mean she’ll be playing a villain. But if her character on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. has half the manipulation skills and thirst for power as Quinn King, Coulson doesn’t really stand a chance. If Zimmer can wield as much power as she does with a walkie-talkie on UnREAL, just imagine what she could do with, say, some HYDRA toys. “When casting this role, we needed someone that could go toe-to-toe with Coulson,” said Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer and head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “Constance brings a level of wit and spark to the role we could have only dreamed of, and we’re beyond excited to add her to our already stellar cast going into the new season.”
Earlier this week, Andrew Howard of The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, Hell On Wheels, and Bates Motel also joined the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. crew as the “authoritative and intimidating” Agent Bates, a, original character created for the show. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, September 29 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
